Can you break down those minutes & games they were played in & see whether they were actually goals that meant 'something', like GWG or at least winning the games thanks to those goals - if not they are worthless if you are trying to educate people about their importance.

See this is exactly what analytics guys do - cherry pick a stat & run with it without offering any further detail because it supports their argument.

Arguing less than .1 of a 'point' is also quite bizarre but again it suits your opinion so you bang it home as if it's a huge margin that actually matters! Again, if you would like to elaborate your statistics to include games won & lost & when points were scored it would assist you in your attempts to look half intelligent!

But if you're just going to continue to cherry pick numbers that you can work with to try & justify your opinion or negate the opinion of others, you're just an arse - which again I will say you don't have to keep proving this, I already know!

Game 1 vs CBJ - 1st Pens goal of the game to tie it at 1
Game 2 - No goals
Game 3 - GWG
Game 4 - 3rd goal in the 1st to go up 3-0, which they lost in OT
Game 5 - No goals
Game 6 - GWG

Game 1 vs NYR - Tied the game at 2 in the 2nd, lost 3-2
Game 2 - Put pens up 2-0, won 3-0 after empty net
Game 3 - Jokinen scores to put Pens up 2-0
Game 4- Jokinen from Neal nets GWG
Game 5 - no goals
Game 6 - no goals
Game 7 - Tied the game at 1

So.. as you can see, they were contributing with GWG, game tying goals, and goals to put the Pens multiple goals ahead.

Also, just for comparisons sake, in 333 minutes of TOI in the regular season, at 5v5 they produced 27 goals for, and 8 goals against for xGF60 and xGA60 of 2.99 and 2.33. So their xGF60 and xGA60 both went UP in the playoffs, showing that goals may not be "harder to come by" considering they were scoring at higher rates during the playoffs.

How's that?

picturing the actual animals the mascots represent acting out headlines is a new hobby of mine.

it doesn't work for all teams (what is a flyer?) but it's no matter

You didn't need to bring this over to the next blog. I'm sure he'd look for a response in the last one...

rude.

It was a legit question. Like was the Penguin swinging around Matt Cullen in one hand and Scott Wilson in the other? Or was the 4th line something else?! These questions must be answered.

I'd shop Maatta too.

Schultz is probably worth keeping around - his offensive side is as good or better than Maatta's (he can pass and his shot is better) and defensively he has been as good or better than Maatta since his arrival here.

That's a coach telling his team he's not happy with the way they played

I think Schultz will sign a reasonable contract here if he's not selected in the expansion draft. We might even end up needing to protect him. Could expose Maatta or do the 4 forwards.

How much would Schultz costs to resign. I think he's in the right place for himself and he got paid pretty well early in his career. I think Daley money could be very reasonable for him.

Isn't the GM now the coach? He's desperate so it wasn't a surprise. GM's going behind the bench is never a good plan. Yohe said every time they showed him on the scoreboard he was boo'd. It's probably pretty tough when ten's of people are booing you all game long.

Schultz should get no more than $2M per imo.

At 5v5 this season MAF sees more Shots, Low Danger Shots, Medium Danger Shots, and High Danger Shots (all per 60) than Murray.

I don't see the math behind that. He's on pace for .5 ppg this year. 40 or so points. Daley signed 6 years ago at 3.3 and his high pt total was 27. Granted our team helps him rack up points. Defensively he's developing into as good as Daley. So for a 4/5D with offensive production $2/year seems way too cheap.

Only way he signs for $2/year would depend on what his QO is this year. Might take a 1 year deal for UFA the following year. Longer term probably looking at Daley money which is reasonable. Scuderi got 3.4 per year UFA and was the defensive version of schultz (2nd/3rd pair). So long-term mid 3's seems pretty reasonable.

Schultz has been blessed by a 104 PDO with PIT. He is a solid 3rd pair D that needs to be sheltered. He is essentially replaceable so you shouldn't pay a premium amount to retain him. He will also be 27 at the start of a new deal an will have most likely 2-3 years of useful play left.

Generally peak between ages 23-25 and hit a steep decline around 28.

Even so, I doubt Murray's save % would dip to .900. Emergency goalies pulled from the stands might have a .900. I am not a MAF hater, but there's no doubt (and no fancy stats needed) who has earned the #1 spot.
